November 2009

#Editorial

I’m usually in a reflective mood when I write an Editorial for MOSSIG but with all eyes on SharePoint 2010, how can you not start looking ahead!
It’s probably been the biggest month on the SharePoint calendar since its inception as SharePoint Team Services way back in 2001 (v1) (or
Tahoe if you want to be technical). In our October meeting we had Brendon Law talk about his experience at the Conference in Las Vegas where all was revealed for the public and the subsequent hype is being backed up with a 2010 (v4) release that will even outshine the advancements SharePoint 2007 (v3) made.
All in all it bodes well for our MOSSIG community as our large 1000 + member base will share the knowledge & experiences we’re having with the public beta now available. For those of you who were involved in MOSSIG nearing the 2007 release, we had a wealth of content shared by the community at that time, and considering we’ve doubled in size since then, you can expect MOSSIG is in for a big year in 2010.
Speaking of our community –
SharePoint Saturday in Melbourne is on this Saturday (14th) and already has over 100 people coming. If you haven’t registered there are limited spots available, so jump on board.
MOSSIG is more than just a SharePoint Usergroup though – our reach extends to the whole Office System of products and Technologies and this month we have a good example of our breadth. Alex Burton will present on Project Server 2010, a product in its own right that builds off the SharePoint platform. Whilst Aaron Dinnage is back for his 2nd presentation (he presented
FUSE in October), he’s following up with Enterprise Search in SharePoint 2010.

I’ll hopefully see you @ SharePoint Saturday & then MOSSIG’s November meeting. So if you have time, pop into the Enterprise Search Chris O’Connor and I are running @ SharePoint Saturday – it will be a great lead in to Aaron’s presentation @ MOSSIG on the 25th.

Cheers,
Tim Wragg

Project & Project Server 2010 - A first look

Since it's unveiling at the Project Conference in September, there has been a significant amount of excitement about the 2010 release of Project and Project Server. But what's all the buzz about?
Join Alex Burton as he gives you a lap around the new features of Project 2010 and Project Server 2010, giving a glimpse into this ground breaking release and the benefits it could bring your organisation.
